Go Texan Day
For you people in other parts of the country, Go Texan Day is celebrated to kick off the start of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the largest rodeo in the country. It's a huge deal here and so the 1st Friday of the rodeo everyone in pretty much the whole city dresses "Texan" style for work and school. yes, I said for work. Major corporations will waive their dresscodes on this day, so long as what you wear is cowboy chic- usually jeans and boots.
Go Texan Day at Tru's school kinda snuck up on us and we weren't prepared, so the best we could do was a plaid shirt and bandana. Luckily for Truitt, he's so cute that this was all he needed.
Dr Seuss's Birthday
Truitt's teacher, Ms Abril, loves to make stuff for them to wear. Hats, necklaces, costumes made from paper bags. Truitt always comes home with some kind of accessories. Like many kids across the country, Dr Suess's birthday involved Cat In The Hat hats. For Tru's class, it also involved some kind of whiskers and a nose.
