Today was Mathis's 1 year check up. As I suspected, giant head (97%+ which means off the charts), tall (95%) and skinny (25%). Dr Shuman is not at all concerned about his weight being low since a) he is growing and b) he never, ever, ever stops moving! Even in his sleep it's a series of 360s in the crib all night long. Sometimes the monitor will wake me up from the sound of him knocking his head against the rails.

He says "mama" and "dada", although I am pretty sure "mama" means "I'm hungry." He is not walking yet, which puts him about a week behind where Truitt was. The thing about Mathis is he is a super fast crawler, so you can't temp him to walk to something. He'll just drop and go and get there in 1/4 of the time. Dr Shuman isn't concerned about this either.

A couple of months ago, I took Mathis to a homeopath and she detected yeast in his system. This makes sense after months on antibiotics. She gave him some drops to take (so stinky. ew) and they were like a miracle in a bottle. Once we got through the 1st two nights when the yeast reacted by getting more aggressive, he started sleeping in longer and longer stretches. Now he sleeps from 6:30 PM- 5 AM. 5 AM is early, too early, but it's still so nice to get that solid chunk of sleep that has eluded us for the last 3.5 years.
