We had a very low key, relaxing Father's Day. Daddy got to sleep in this morning until 7:30! Wow, I know. Ha! But Mathis wakes up at 5:30 everyday so we take what we can get. I would have let him sleep later, but I knew he wanted in on the pancakes and those boys needed to eat.
When he got to the table, Daddy's Father's Day Coupon book was waiting for him. It has an assortment of coupons good for everything from "Homemade Dinner of Choice" to "Going Out for Indian Food" plus chore exemptions, control of the remote and more. There were also two for "Sleeping In" and Daddy was quick to make sure neither coupon was used for this morning. In addition to his coupon book, the boys gave him The Daddy Book by Todd Parr. We have another great Parr book called The Family Book which talks about many kinds of families. We really enjoy reading it so the boys knew The Daddy Book would be a hit as well.
After breakfast we tidied up around the house and went for a nice walk. Mathis enjoyed helping with the vacuum:
It was hot but not too bad. We didn't make our usual pit stop at the coffee shop because we wanted to be home in time for Mathis's nap. While M slept, Daddy and Truitt "worked" outside. Daddy even mowed the lawn while Truitt fed him the slack for the power cord (we have an electric mower). Then they busted out the hose and water table. For some reason grabbing my camera escaped me and I only have a couple of pictures of their fun times on my phone. I did upload them to FB so you can always check 'em out there.
After TexMex lunch and grocery shopping, Truitt was exhausted from the morning's outside adventures. He took a long nap and Mathis got to have some Daddy time and his turn at the water table. He had a BLAST! He loooves playing with his brother but I think Mathis enjoyed not being bossed around this afternoon.
Chillin'
Oh, and be sure to check out Mathis's super freaking cute one piece swim getup. So funny. I love this thing!
I also got a couple great close ups of Mathis outside and tried them in B&W. I know the colors are so pretty- his bright swim outfit and big, blue eyes- but there is something I love about black and white...
Happy Father's Day, Ray. I hope you had a wonderful day.
