Finally! Our bathroom remodel is underway!

BEFORE:

Crappy glass block window with peeling paint.

Prison sink. 2 faucets for hot or cold only, no warm.
Past owners painted it rather than reglazing, so it's all peeling and rusting.

Nasty closet with no floor (we put in peel and stick tile just to keep critters out).

View of the whole bathroom.
The demo guys were too quick and the toilet/prison sink were already gone
but I think you can get the picture.

PHASE 1: Demo

Stripped it down to studs and shiplap.
The shiplap is in really good condition so we are going to keep it.
I am so happy about that (by GC was doubtful). They don't build houses like this anymore.

Same can't be said for the floor. A guy fell through during the demo.

Took out the crappy glass block window. Yay!

PHASE 2: Put it back together. One piece at a time.

New tub and new double hung window with privacy glass.
The new window is going to be my favorite part of the renovation. I swear!

Nasty closet is gone and being framed out for custom cabinets.
Mathis is checking out the new tub!

We are taking the door from the bathroom closet and adding it to this built in bookcase in the hall, creating a much needed linen closet.

Fun discovery:

Under the wall tile, adhered to the original shiplap was this calico-ish wallpaper.
Amazing that it's still there. I can only imagine it was hung when the house was built in 1930.
If walls could talk...

How cool that you found that wallpaper! My parents live in a house from the 1800s that they restored and found all sorts of cool stuff when they remodeled. Someone had covered up the original beadboard ceilings...who does that?!
