Sweet Boys

I just happened to snap a few pics of Mathis in the tub the other night. He is so longer using the newborn sling at bathtime and I thought it was appropriate to commemorate that. When I uploaded the pics to the computer, I couldn't believe it. I know he has gotten bigger. I mean, obviously right? But I was just surprised when it was right there in front of me.

I posted some pics from his 1st real bath at home. Look at that compared to this week. Wow!

And he just keeps getting cuter. He is all smiles and coos and laughing. He lights up when Mama or Dada or Brother come in to his field of vision. It melts your heart. Sometimes when he is nursing, I'll look down to check on him and if he catches me, he'll beam with a huge smile, milk dribbling out the corners of his mouth. It is just sooo sweet. I can't believe he has his 4 mos checkup on Tuesday. Wowie zowie. I also can't believe that I am going to survive this 4 month wakeful period. He was such a great sleeper and this is all really stressing me out. Hopefully, this every two hours (or even 90 minutes sometimes) is just a phase and he'll be sleeping in longer chunks again soon... Cross your fingers for us!

Truitt's first full week of full time school went really well. He really likes it and that makes me so happy. I feel bad leaving him there until 4-4:30 in the afternoon but he has so much fun and until the weather gets better, I think it's best. Once the weather cools to a reasonable temp, I can do fun things like take both boys to the park or the zoo. Right now, if he is not in school we are home and all he wants to do is watch tv.

To prevent tv zombie mode in the afternoon, I am trying to think of some fun things to do. Yes, he still gets to watch Go Diego Go while I cook dinner, but from 4-5:30 we need to occupy some of our time with other things. I thought something we would both enjoy was baking some treats. Last week I got some (easy) brownie mix and on Thursday we baked brownies after school. Sadly, the mix was a little too easy and we were done with the mixing and pouring in all of, ohhhh, 10 minutes.

However, Truitt did get to experience another rite of passage: licking the spoon. I think he'll enjoy baking. This week I bought supplies for my fave- what we call Triple Cs, more commonly known as chocolate chip cookies.

Here is Tru enjoying his first tastes of uncooked dessert batter:

And it was funny and a little scary that in the end, all I could think was he looked an awful lot like Heath Ledger's Joker:

Does he have a little easel that you could set up with some crayons and (washable) markers in the kitchen while you cook? My niece has one and she loves it.
