I don't have any new Turtle pics to add today, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been a lot going on.
With my Mom here, we have been working on the big purge. Along with another family, we are having a garage sale next Saturday. It's going to feel really good to get this stuff out of the house. We also have a large box of towels for the ASPCA and some other items that are useful but not saleable that I will post on Freecycle.
I *love* me some Freecycle. Last week I got rid of a large shopping bag full of other shopping bags, an open box of cat pan liners that didn't fit our box, a bunch of store baby clothes hangers, and a bunch of random pieces of plastic flatware from various parties. This week I am listing some used candles (the huge altar ones from our wedding), a bunch of random a/v and cable cables, some spare parts to a Dirt Devil vacuum and who knows what else.... People will take this stuff. It's amazing. A mom in Heights Kids listed a freaking cellophane wrapped pickle (the kind you get at the movies) on Freecycle and someone actually came to her house and took it. I don't know what's weirder- listing it or taking it. Anyway, since I am completely **freaked** out by the amount of garbage we create, I never throw anything away and Freecycle has saved me from a life of Sanford&Son-ness.
R.I.P
In addition to the house work, we got out to see a couple movies. We all went to see "Wanted" starring my girlfriend, Angelina.

My Mom was a little nervous b/c she read a lot about how violent it was. It was definitely violent, but it was all that super stylized, slow motion violence that just makes it seem less real. Overall, we really enjoyed the movie. I think it's definitely worth a trip to the Megaplex. One thing I always look for in an action film is tricks I haven't seen before. "Wanted" definitely has a couple of these. Morgan Freeman was pretty damn good and James McEvoy isn't too hard on the eyes either.
Last week, the ladies went to see "Sex and The City" while Daddy and Turtle had a G.N.I. (Guys Night In). It was exactly what we expected- sex, crazy clothes and two hours of willing suspension of disbelief. It would have been a sad, sad pop culture moment for me had I not seen this movie in the theater. I only saw the show sporadically, but that didn't make the movie any less intriguing for me. Actually, it might have been SJP's real spread in Vogue that really made me want to see it...
Lastly, Daddy and Mommy had a little date night and went to see Wall-E last night. That was really cute and fun. We both love animated movies, so it was surprise that we liked it. There were some previews for kids movies set to come out around Christmas and all I could think was "I can't wait to take Turtle to the movies." I don't think this year will be the year, but by next Christmas he should be ready and willing to sit through something like Wall-E with his parents. How fun will that be??
So, the big thing we did this weekend was go meet Ms Clara. I brought my camera but was having so much fun snuggling a sleeping 3 week old that I forgot to snap any pics. Bummer! Miles is thrilled to be a big brother and loves to give the wee one lots of kisses (whether it's a good time or not, according to his parents. Ha!). I hope that Turtle has a similar reaction whenever another baby comes home to our own house. He wasn't jealous of Clara until all of the trucks started to look the same and he wondered where Mommy was. I had to do a quick hand off and snuggle the boy, lest he try to wedge himself in to my lap with the newborn still there. As it was, he was tired and demonstrated that by slapping Heather across the face as we all said our goodbyes. Nice. I don't even know how I reacted, I was so mortified. Heather, if you're reading this---> SORRY AGAIN!!
As far as the 4th of July, we went to Wendy's (I have some pics to post later) but left pretty early. We weren't going to make it all the way to fireworks anyway, so why torture Turtle and ourselves by up-ending his routine? It was a pretty mellow night, which was fine with us. Hope you all had exactly the kind of fun you wanted!

No need to apologize for Turtle - he is just making me feel better by showing me that Miles isn't the only one who does things like that. it was great to see you guys, and thanks again for the cookies.
