Happy Easter!

So, let me start by saying we didn't really get in to the whole Easter Bunny thing with Truitt this year. Maybe he would get it, maybe he wouldn't. It just didn't come up or seem necessary. However, he did have his share of Easter fun in the shape of egg hunts. He had one at school, one at the park with Magda, and one at our neighborhood park with us. This one was organized by the Friends Of Proctor Park group. We were very excited about it, but found out the week of that Pam didn't have enough eggs and that they might have to cancel. All it took was one email to my moms' group, Heights Kids, and there were more than enough eggs and candy to make it a great event. Such a great group of families!
We were ready to go, basket in hand, for the 10 am kick off. It was a lot of fun to see so many friends out.

Truitt surveys the competition; greeting Buzz Lightyear, aka Miles, with a high 5! It can stay friendly since they are in different hunting groups ;)

Diego was under the weather and a bit camera shy, but sure looked cute in his bunny overalls; Milam and Jila made the long walk up from Key St.

I can't help but look at this picture of Lisa, Trey and baby John without thinking that will be me soon (and it scares the crap out of me. Ha!)

Emma, one of the cutest girls *ever* seems to be exhibiting toddler levels of stress. The wonderful Peris family.

The park divided out the hunts by age. Ages 0-4 first, 4-whatevs second, and then they even had enough eggs to do a 3rd hunt, free-for-all style. It was great to see the toddlers charge out of the gate, mostly not 100% sure what they were going for. Until they found that 1st egg...

The line up; and GO!

Benjamin got a strong start. Kayla finds an egg but looks unsure.

This being his 1st egg hunt, Truitt needed a little guidance to get started. Once he got the hang of it,and daddy showed him what was waiting in each plastic egg, he did pretty well on his own. My boy is of such a one track mind that it was the eggs with little rubber balls in them that appealed to him even more than the candy.

A successful Easter egg hunt with Dada....

And Turtle shows off his loot....

In the end, it was really all about parental trickery, though. I smuggled some organic, juice based lollipops in our bag and was able to distract Truitt with one of those before he went face first in to a chocolate coma. Oh well. He has the rest of his life for Cadbury Eggs and Peeps...
