Last weekend was Gulf Coast Tia Piah's 31st Annual Powwow. Many of you know that Ray has been involved in Indian cultural traditions since his days as an Eagle Scout. If you didn't know that, you do now. Anyway, Gulf Coast is an organization that we are members of and they have small monthly powwows from Sept to March and then a big annual celebration in April. It's so much fun (and a lot of hard work for the staff) and we really enjoy being a part of it. People come from all over the southwest to participate. I love to shop the vendors for great jewelry, too!
This year, Noni is obviously here, but Grandma and Nanna & Honey also came in to town to visit for Annual weekend. The weather was warm and dry with not a cloud in the sky. Perfect powwow weather- if you ask me.
Turtle went to Annual last year, but was an itty bitty thing. This year I think he really enjoyed it. He bopped up and down to the drum and definitely enjoyed going as fast as his little Turtle legs could carry him.

Truitt got to see lots of family and friends at the powwow and met his Uncles, Ernie and Scott, for the 1st time. He also enjoyed playing with Daddy's gourd rattle.

Star played ball with Truitt and generally kept him occupied for a while. She was a good girl and didn't give in when he demanded a packet of cookies.
At the end of any busy, fun day a good nap in your carseat is definitely in order!
We like to make the boy work for his dinner. Haaaa!
Even after all the hustle and bustle of the day, Truitt still had enough energy to go out on the town. We had dinner on the patio at Chatter's, a casual spot near our house. The food is great and our little foodie enjoyed his hummus and pita, as well as chicken, veggies and pasta. I, on the other hand, enjoyed letting his 2 grandmothers entertain him and a nice cold glass of Sauv Blanc.
