So, I have lots of fun photos from this weekend. Grandparents were in town and there was much going on. Unfortunately, they'll have to wait.
In other news, Daddy, Turtle and I spent 5 solid hours at the ER at Texas Children's last night. Everything is ok, but what an ordeal. On Friday, I noticed Turtle had a little scabby skin on the back of one of his knees. It looked odd to me, but he is Mr-Rough-and-Tumble, so I showed Daddy and we decided to watch it. By Sunday morning, he had multiple lesions (for lack of a better term) concentrated on the back of his knees and a couple on his thighs. It didn't look like anything life threatening, but it was weird enough that I called the Dr's office and spoke to the after hours nurse.
It was so hard to describe to her what they looked like. They were dry and a little rough. It wasn't a rash but they weren't really scabby. Anyway, she finally said the word "blisters" and that sounded the closest to what I was looking at. So, she says "You do need to take him to the ER with in the next 3-4 hours." My stomach went in to a knot at that point.
However, after we were triaged at the ER, we waited another 4 hours. I started to think it wasn't much of an emergency after all... The final diagnosis: severe eczema that had become infected. Eczema was news to us. The odd thing was there were no sores that were there to make us concerned until the infection was already present. Looks like we are heading off to a pediatric dermatologist to see how we can prevent this in the future.
All in all, the whole trip to the hospital was way more painful for Ray and I than it was for Truitt. Oh well. Part of being a parent, I suppose. I don't regret going; better to be safe than sorry with the Little Man. It was ugly enough that the Resident we saw got her supervising doctor, who also brought in the main doctor in the ER to verify the diagnosis.
All is well in the Torgerson camp now. Turtle is enjoying Grandma being here (Nana and Honey went back to Corpus yesterday. Boo.) and we have lots of fun stuff planned for the week. Glad he is ok to enjoy them with us!!
