Great Nite at Late Nite

Gosh, everyone. I have been a bad mommy blogger for the last 2 weeks. It's not for lack of picture taking. Rest assured. I've just been running around and doing this and that. My own little projects aside, we have been busy as a family. Work has picked up for Dada again. We have been seeing friends and having fun. You know. The typical.
Anyhoo- last weekend we got together with some friends to try a new place. A lot of the moms in our neighborhood rave about weekend nights at Late Nite Pie. Anika and Veronique were meeting up, so I asked if we could crash and bring the wonderful Perises with us. We got there at 5 pm, right when they opened, and that Texas sun was high and hot. Of course, that did not deter the kids at all and they had a great time playing. I think it's so smart of any restaurant that typically has a late crowd (Late Nite is a post-bar locale) to cater to families. All families really want is a place where they can drink beer and their kids can play. Late Nite seemed to have that all figured out!

Immediate attraction to the pool table, of course.

Truitt is not one to accessorize, but seeing Lila in her sunglasses inspired him. Apparently you can be cool even with your shades on upside down.

Mathis was a doll, in and out of sleep. He actually stayed in his car seat for a good chunk of time. That is unusual for him. Like his brother, he wants to be held. Luckily, one table had these patio chairs that rocked and I could just snuggle him up to me and sway him back to sleep.

Lila was really fascinated with Mathis. At one point she just plunked down in front of his seat and stared at him. It was super cute. For some reason, though, I neglected to upload those snapshots. You can see a cute one on my Facebook page. Pics can just take too long to upload and they jack with your formatting if you do it after the fact. So, in lieu of pics of Lila staring at Mathis, I have just plain cute pics of the two of them:

The kids all played great together. The restaurant has a bunch of trucks and blocks in addition to the slide and playhouse. Again, they really know how to cater. There was even a Big Wheel. Lila was the 1st to commandeer the Big Wheel and Truitt was very envious. A tantrum even ensued. Then, when it was finally his turn, his feet didn't reach the pedals- not that Lila's actually did, but she didn't care. She was content to scoot. Truitt wanted to really ride the thing. He got pretty upset. I was a bad mommy because I thought it was kind of funny. Frank took pity on him though (such a nice guy, damn him) and helped T ride.

Looking like a badass... until his feet didn't reach.

Frank, always a super nice guy, lending a hand

Boys and their trucks

I love this next picture not for the picture itself, but because of the scene. Lila was on top of the slide and the boys were all playing. They weren't really interested in the slide at the moment, but she was sure to tell them it was her slide. I love how they are all looking at her and Lila is up on-high, making proclamations down to them. So like life, isn't it? Ha!

As you can see, the kids all had a great time and were pretty tuckered come 8 pm when we decided to roll on home. We did learn a valuable lesson: 5 pm was a little early and the sun goes down behind the building right around 6:30. That would be the optimal time to go, I think... Overall, great place for a family Saturday night with friends. The kids had fun and so did the moms and dads!
