A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of attending the Ladybug Picnic, aka Kayla's 2nd Birthday. It was a great party. Kayla's parents have a great yard and the weather was unusually cooperative. There was food, fun and lots of friends. Truitt definitely knows what the word "party" means and is always game for one.
Here are some super cute pictures of the Birthday Girl and Truitt being all cute and flirty. I have to tell you that I was just letting the shutter rip and there are about 2 dozen of the cutest pictures of these two. The ones posted here are just the highlights!
And this is horrible to say, but after all that flirting, this is kind of the awkward "I am not going to call you" hug. Ha!
Truitt got to see a lot of friends from around the neighborhood. Here he is with his good buddy Benjamin. They are practicing their high-fives. Like father, like son. B's daddy, Frank, lays one on as well.
Truitt and Evie grabbing some watermelon. Tru hasn't seen Evie in forever. It was good to see her and her mom. Evie is going to be a big sister soon, herself! Ryan and her brother Owen will be moving to Australia soon. We are sad to see them go but what a wonderful adventure!
This is the incredibly cute and shy Diego. He is the sweetest thing. Look at that smile!
This is how Mathis spent most of the party- wrapped in the Moby with his face squished. He did wake up long enough to peek over Dada's shoulder for a bit, though. We are glad he didn't sleep the whole time at his first birthday party!
So, we don't know this cute kiddo but we couldn't get over the striking resemblance he has to one Mr John Malkovich. Don't you think?
So, as part of the lady bug theme there was, of course, a lady big cake. But the lady bugness didn't stop there! kayla's mom found some website (ahhh, the internet) and ordered a case of ladybugs to release at the party.
The crate contained 36,000 ladybugs!! It was nuts. I don't know what any of us expected but there were ladybugs **everywhere**!! I even found 2 in my car the next day. Ha! While some adults (like me) were a little creeped out, the kids loved it- especially the 9-10 year old boys. It was pretty cool!

Such a fun birthday party!
Absolutely love the photos. Especially the one of Mathis awake on his daddy's shoulder.
