Uncle Eddie and Truitt at the salon. UE is beeming :)
Waiting our turn; a good parting shot
Truitt was a little nervous, as we expected. Being a mom herself, Amelia was so sweet and so patient. The original idea was Truitt would get his cut, the main event, and then we would leave Dada behind and go grab some lunch, putting us home by nap time.As you can see from the photos below, the cape went over like a lead balloon. He was scared and I don't blame him. he wasn't 100% sure what was happening. I mean, he knew he was getting a haircut, but he didn't really know what a "haircut" was.
So, we went to Plan B. Dada sat in the chair for his own cut and Truitt was able to watch and see a little of what was going to happen to him.Uncle Eddie and Mathis just hung out and watched. It was a real family affair. This might have been the most people Amelia has had in her room at any one time. Leave it to us. LOL
Truitt also used this as an opportunity to show off his Big Brother skills: nose pokes and cheeck pinches.
Truitt's turn! Dada thought maybe Turtle would want to sit on his lap for the cut, but Turtle is a Big Boy. We played up the fact that the chair went up and down and around. That was more than he could resist and he climbed in without a problem. The problem came when he saw the scissors heading to his head. Of course, at home we always tell him scissors will hurt him. It was hard for him to understand that they wouldn't hurt him whipping around his head. Once she made the 1st couple cuts, he was ok though and proceeded to enjoy his time in the chair as the center of attention.
Going...
Going...
So, another milestone is reached. Much later than a lot of his peers, but by choice. He still has that shaggy look. It just suits him. I had joked that perhaps he was like Sampson and his hair cut would sap him of his powers (and when I say "powers" I mean "naughtiness.") but no. I think it actually invigorated him because he has been in rare form the last couple of weeks. It was freeing, I suppose. Either way, he's still the cutest 2 year old I know.
