Our Favorite Summer Visitor

One of the things we really look forward every summer is our niece, Anaka, visiting from Austin. I feel a little bad this summer b/c I am a bit swamped with a toddler and a newborn. Actually, it wouldn't be that bad, but the nanny called out sick for the week, changing our plans for the days Anaka and I were going to do girly things on our own. Oh well. Truitt is happy since he ADORES her.

One thing we did get to do (although it wasn't quite as relaxing as it could have been. lol) was go to get henna tattoos at a place in my neighborhood. THat was fun. Soniya does amazing work and we really have enjoyed it. It has been neat watching it darken and really show and we have both gotten lots of compliments :)

Anaka got her ankle/foot done in a gorgeous floral design, plus some little flourishes on her toes. This is almost better than jewelry.

I got a design on my leg and on my arm. I can't stop looking at it! I am glad to have gotten this picture of my arm because when I went to load Mathis back in to the car I smudged the still-wet henna paste. I couldn't believe it! However, when it all dried and the paste fell off, you can still see the design, even inside the smudge and it was only about 2 square inches, so not the whole thing. Still, I looooove the one on my foot/ankle. It looks so pretty with skirts and sandals! I could see this becoming a little bit of an addiction since I am already thinking about what I want to get next!
