Well, Mathis Hale Torgerson made his grand appearance Saturday morning, bright and early. He announced his imminent arrival by kicking off contractions at 3 am (just like his brother, oddly enough). He was born via c-section at 6:13 am, weighing in a 8 lbs 3.2oz and 21 inches long. As you can tell by our 3 hour window, things moved pretty quickly from the moment I woke up and went "Oh hell" until he was actually born. In 3 hours, we packed up our whole family, went to the hospital, woke our nanny up from a sound sleep, Ray brought Truitt back home, Ray came back to the hospital, they prepped me and the baby was born. Crazy! Anyway, we are thrilled to have Mathis with us. He is so cute and sweet and we love him to pieces!
The first moments after Mathis was born
Daddy waited with me in recovery
Getting settled in to our room; Just being too cute
And then, the family arrived:
Big brother couldn't wait to say "Hi", but the look on his face still says mischief
Grandma gives Mathis a snuggle; Nana holds Mathis so brother can give him a smooch
Overall, Truitt is doing really well with the baby. We'll see how this keeps up when we get to the house. As of right now, he loves to peek at him and is always happy to tell you his brother's name. He is getting lots of attention from his grandparents and I highly doubt that he misses his parents much at all right now. When I call the house, Truitt gets on the phone and says "Mama and Mathis at the hospital." It's cute.
I have to tell you, Truitt is a real trooper. He didn't fuss or anything when we got him out of bed at 3:30 am to come to the hospital. I told him why we were leaving and the whole way to the Med Center in the car, he kept saying "Baby is coming out." He also would notice when I stiffened up during a contraction and simply announce to the air "Hurts." Ha! He is quite the boy.

Oh V... he is GORGEOUS and I love that Truitt is so in tune with you that he could see when you were hurting. What a wonderful boy you have there!

Mathis is beautiful! We are so happy for you guys. And how is it possible that you look so good in the post-c-section photo??
Congratulations! He's beautiful. Truitt looks excited to be a big brother.
As for me, I'm just in shock that you are able to post to not one, but two blogs just a few days out from having a baby -- go, you! And thank you, too. :-)
I think this one is going to look more like you with the graceful cheekbones! You do look fabulous and not at all like you were up at 3 am!
