Late last night, I pulled out all our non-perishables and took inventory. I decided we just needed a few more things and would go to the market this morning. As I waited in line (!!!) at the gas station, I realized the regular market was going to be a mess. I decided I had a better chance of just getting a few things if I headed to Whole Foods. After all, I wanted apples, bananas and cookies, not canned peas! As I pulled in to the full parking lot, the 1st thing that popped in to my head was "Ike can't stop the hippies." LOL
So, we are stocked on food, diapers, toilet paper and beverages. We have 2 cases of water and one case of Diet Citrus Iced Tea. We have about 100 bottles of wine (but we have those in any case). We have first aid supplies, D batteries, a radio, a flashlight and each other. All set for hunkering down.
The good news is Ike did not intensify as much over night as it could have. We are facing the dirty side of a medium strength level 3 hurricane. If you don't live in a hurricane zone, you may not know what any of that means. Basically, we're facing high force winds and some rain, but not enough to flood. Houston will be spared worst case scenario, but they re still evacuating everyone alone the coast. This storm is big/wide and even if it makes a drastic shift in any direction, we'll feel it.
Keep us in your thoughts! I'll update as I can....
