Bittersweet

Our little man started school today! Pre-k, 2 days a week. I know, it's just kinda school, but it was a big step--- for all of us. I have some photos but I will have to upload them tomorrow. This is one of those things I just wanted to post on the day it actually happened. It was hard leaving him this morning. It was hard but it's the right thing to do. I know he is really going to like it when he gets accustomed. He is going to love being with other kids and learning and exploring. I know it's the right thing to do but it is still hard...
Ray and I both went to drop him off this morning. There were other kids there when we got there, but Truitt didn't seem to interested in them. He started playing with toys and walking around. He was ok when Dada left... Maybe I should have left sooner than I did. I thought I was safe when he found some maracas...
I said good by and he ran in front of me toward the door. If I was going out, he wanted out! I told him that he had to stay and that I would be right back (apparently, they do not have a concept of passing time so you are supposed to say this b/c they don't know any better....). He started to bawl! Ohhhhhhh. It was terrible, but I was good and I left.
I jetted home, got in to my yoga gear and drove back by the school on the way to class. I peeked in the window. Truitt was at the table with his back to me, eating his snack. He seemed fine. After yoga I called and she said that he cried off and on, but over all was fine. The teacher said he barely cried at all once the day got started, though. I think the lady on the phone was just giving a stock answer. Loser.
Anyway, I went to get him at 2:15 and when I showed up he was screaming. The teacher- poor thing- was like "He just woke up crying." He does that. Even at home. He has a hard time with waking up from his nap. Who knows...
I asked if they had any trouble getting him down for his nap and both teachers were like "Noooo. He laid down, we patted his back and he was asleep." I asked "Did he have his paci?" and she said NO!! This kid- the one we spend approximately 2 hours a day lulling to sleep... Just lays down and naps at school! I can't believe it... Actually, I can!

Yah for Turtle and falling asleep like that -- the tears will go away shortly. I can't believe he is already in "SCHOOL"!

I LOVE the part about you sneaking back to the school in your yoga gear and peeking in the window!
