yIKEs.

Today, it seems most people in our part of town are doign what they can to eliviate going stir crazy once the storm hits. The local places that were open for lunch today were packed. Everyone was out exercizing their animals and generally getting fresh air. While Galveston is already getting pounded, The Heights is just starting to feel a breeze. The blue skies from yesterday are gone and you can feel something in the air... Still, people are enjoying what they can and preparing for being housdebound soon enough.

I was out walking Cookie and saw Dagmar at the park with her 2 daughters, Tatiana and Sabrina. She was letting them stretch their legs and practice their kite flying in the gusts.

Yesterday and today, I got things organized and kept Turtle busy. It's funny how much you want everything to be clean and organized. It's like we nest for the storm. I took pictures for insurance purposes and put our most important documents in to a plastic bag. Flooding will not be an issue for us, but high winds will. Better safe than sorry. With wind and power loss our biggest concern, this was what Ray spent the better part of the last 48 hours doing:

Generally our house seems pretty secure, although we didn't get to board every window. We were strategic and think that the most important areas are secure. Hopefully there will be no reason for "after" photos...

Here are some other pictures from around the hood. People are very prepared. See you on the flip side of Ike...
