The Only Sort of Triumphant Return of Cookie

So, Cookie came home Tuesday night. It's nice to have her back, althought I have mixed emotions about the training. She can sit, heel, stay, and down stay. However, there is no way to get her to come to you. Plus, she is scared. I did not know they were going to aggressively use a choke chain to train her. Now, we are stuck in a strange predicament: do we continue to use the neck-jerk tactics in order to keep her trained -or- do we go with our hearts and not do it, wasting our money and putting her through that for nothing? I mean, not for nothing. She is definitely much easier to walk and it only takes a very gentle tug on the leash to remind her to not pull and to not go ahead. Still, it's been tough. She seems scared and I hate that. She has warmed back up to the house and seems more at home than she did her first 48 hours. I guess we are going to need to strike a happy medium. We can't let her get back to the crazy dog she was, but I don't think we need her to fear us, either.

Turtle was definitely happy to have his doggie back, as evidenced in these photos:

However, Cookie was not as happy to be loved on. Watching her try and squeeze herself under the dining chairs was quite the show. Poor Truitt could not understand for the life of him why she was squished under there. He kept pointing to her and looking at me as if to say "Mama, Cookie is stuck. Get her out!"
