Our clan had a bumpin' Memorial Day weekend. From Fri dinner at King Biscuit with the Youngers straight through to Monday cook out, we were non stop.
Saturday and Sunday were domesticity in all its glory- double trips to Ikea yeilded great results. After 3 years in this house, we finally got some patio furniture for the back. This was accomplished while almost having a throw down with a family of 5 at Ikea. I was waiting for Daddy by the patio tables we wanted. Turtle and I were just hanging out when this other may I say suburban looking family comes strolling over. They decide they want the same set, which was an issue b/c they wanted 2 tables and we wanted 2 tables. I meandered over to the stack of THREE boxes and just waited patiently. The father then says "Do you need some help with something?" I say "I am just waiting for my husband. He is getting a trolley so we can get these two tables." They were none too pleased and scurried off to find an Ikea salesperson, who informed them these were the last tables. Ray came back just in time b/c it was about to be the Bridal Sale at Off 5th if he had been one minute later. LOL
Saturday night we went to the Burgerts' for swimming and dinner. Actually, I didn't swim but the boys really enjoyed the water. I got to meet the wonderful Westby family, who I have heard so many wonderful things about. Their kids were adorable and such a pleasure to be around. It was a long night and copious amounts of wine were imbibed. As always, a great time with really fun people.
Turtle checking out the cookbook library; sitting in the chair like a big boy; Daddy has a 'rita; David leaves the pool to get cooking
Having fun with Daddy; ready for the pool; enjoying the water with Daddy; "Catch me, Daddy!"
Kids enjoying the water; star gazing; Turtle is o.u.t.; counting water bugs
Sometime around midnight, Turtle did some snuggling with the Mama!
Sunday we ended up back at Ikea, this time to get storage solutions for our recycling nightmare. I can't deal with all the trash we generate and want to start having more of a focus on the "reduce" part of "reduce, reuse, recycle." After household projects all day, that night we didn't feel like doing much, so we headed to Osaka and gorged on sushi. Turtle wasn't having any of it, though. He did walk around the restaurant and wave to everyone, so that was a good time.

Monday, we had a quick lunch with Wendy, Dave and Suzanne. Of course, I forgot my camera. Grrr. It was great to see them since it's been forever. We didn't get to hang out long enough, so hopefully we'll get together again soon. Wendy is looking great and D&S have a bunch of work happening to their house. Should be an eventful summer for the group.
Monday night the Youngers came by. We had a bunch of noshies while the boys went Lord of the Flies. The water table was once again a huge hit for the toddlers, as was the cooler on this particular evenings. A few beers, bottle of champagne and bottle of sauv blanc down, we had great steaks (prepped by yours truly and grilled to perfection by Daddy) and some awesome roasted veg. Add a Pinot and a Shiraz and it was a wonderful night.
Simon gives the boys some agua; Cookie joins the party; Daddy hanging out; the Mamas
How much fun can you have with a cooler? How many hours are in a day!!
The cooler makes it to the driveway; Turtle gets doused; water table is always fun.
Simon loooves having his picture taken. Ha!
So, here is the funny thing about these pictures! Oh, these boys. So, they insisted on climbing all over the upturned water table. At one point, both of them got their Crocs caught in the crevice. Try as they might, they couldn't get their feet out. It was so funny. Of course, Sarah made fun of me--- she said "Notice that rather than help, Viula jumps up to take pictures." But of course! LOL
By the way, do you think Turtle likes spinach dip? I wonder. LOL
