Truitt turned 15 mos on Tuesday and we had his check up on Wed. He did really well and is in fine shape.
Length: 32 1/2" (75%)
Weight: 22.11 (15%)
Head size: 19 1/2" (95%)
The thing about these stats that is interesting is the weight. The boy is really skinny! When Tru was 3-6 mos old, he was a fat little thing, in the 90% for weight (and height/head). Around 9 mos he dropped to 75% and it's been down, down, down since then. He hasn't even gained a lb in 3 mos. In fact, around a year old he lost a lb. I have been so scared, but he eats! Boy, does he eat. However, he refuses to drink whole milk and is almost vegetarian. That is by his own choice, not mine. I get him dairy when I can (yogurt for breakfast, mac & cheese or broccoli pot pie w/ cheese sauce) but he won't pick up a piece of cheese and eat it like most toddlers. He prefers fruit, graham crackers, broccoli! What a funny little man.
Anyway, Dr Shuman is not concerned. She said he has the body of a typical vegetarian child and that we should try giving him some juice fortified with calcium just in case. Fine.
He had 2 vax- DT and Polio, leaving out the P (Pertussis) usually bundled with the DT. We are so happy with the fact that our doctor is willing to work with us on vaccinations. With the exception of the Pertussis (which we believe, with Dr Shuman's agreement, was causing huge sleep issues for Truitt), he will get all his vaccinations, just not 5-6 at a time. It turns my stomach to think of all that foreign material being pumped in to a little person at one time. Ugh. Anyway, we have worked out a great vax schedule that will work for us and our doctor. Perfect!
I was also concerned about language with him. At 15 mos, he is very, very vocal but only says 2-3 words that (I can determine) have actual meaning. I know that bilingual children develop language slower, but is Magda 3 or 4 days a week really enough to consider him "bilingual?" Dr Shuman thinks it is, so I will stop worrying. She also noted that both his fine and gross motor skills are highly advanced for his age. She said that one or the other develops at a time and that we will probably see a dip in his motor skills or physical development and the words will start to pour out. Should be interesting...
That devilish grin!

Messing around at the Drs office.
I want to add that I am so incredibly happy with our decision to switch pediatricians. I adore Dr Shuman and I think she really gets it. She is willing to work with us within the framework of our parenting decisions. She is supportive about the fact that refuse to do things that we think are wrong- like Cry It Out- and can help us make our medical decisions without stepping all over our parenting philosophies. I really like her as a person and respect her as a doctor.
